Talkpad (“the App”) is a voice typing application operated by Illumentis. When you speak, your audio is sent securely for transcription and returned as text. Talkpad does not retain audio on its servers after processing. We do not build user profiles from transcription content or sell your data.
Talkpad collects minimal data to operate the service:
Talkpad does not retain or use for analytics:
Your audio is sent over an encrypted connection (TLS) to our transcription API, which forwards it to third-party speech recognition providers (ElevenLabs as the primary engine, with Azure as a fallback) for processing. A separate large-language-model provider (Groq, with Cloudflare Workers AI as a fallback) is used only to polish and translate the transcribed text. The audio is not stored, logged, or used for model training by Talkpad. Processing providers handle the data under their own applicable policies and service settings; we do not claim that every provider has zero retention.
The iOS app asks for your explicit permission before sharing audio or dictated text with these AI services. You can decline and still type with the keyboard. You can withdraw permission under AI data sharing in Your account; this stops future AI requests but cannot recall data already sent for processing.
On iOS, enabling dictation keeps a microphone session armed so the keyboard can request recordings while you use other apps. The iOS microphone indicator stays visible while this session is active. Between dictations, audio samples are discarded rather than sent for transcription. Turn dictation off to release the microphone; it also turns off after 15 minutes of inactivity. A recording stops automatically after 10 minutes. Other platforms record when you start dictation using the microphone or shortcut controls.
Talkpad uses Sign in with Apple, Google, and GitHub for authentication. When you sign in, we receive your name and email address from the provider. We do not receive your provider password.
Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe on the web and desktop, Apple on iOS, and Google Play on Android. We receive verified subscription status, product and expiry details so Pro access works across signed-in devices, but no full payment card details. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy and the applicable Apple or Google privacy policy for details on how they handle payment data.
We use Google Tag Manager for basic website analytics to understand how visitors interact with our website (talkpad.ai). This may involve cookies and similar technologies on the website. The desktop and mobile applications do not include analytics trackers.
Talkpad does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Talkpad relies on the following third-party services:
Each service operates under its own privacy policy. We select providers that maintain strong data protection standards.
We retain account information for as long as your account is active. Usage counts reset weekly. If you cancel your subscription, your account data is retained in case you resubscribe. In the iOS app, open Your account, tap the three-dot menu, and choose Delete account. Deleting a Talkpad account does not cancel an Apple subscription: cancel renewal in Apple's subscription settings. You can also contact us at [email protected].
When an account is deleted, we remove its profile, authentication record and active account data, subject to records needed for legal obligations, fraud prevention, and purchase recovery. To prevent repeated account deletion from resetting free trials or weekly limits, we retain a keyed pseudonymous identifier, the original trial start, and recent aggregate word-count totals solely for fraud and abuse prevention. Where supported by the account-deletion service, we also retain keyed provider-identity hashes, a purchase binding identifier, and deletion status to prevent deleted-account access and safely restore verified purchases. These continuity records do not contain audio, transcripts, names, raw email addresses, or raw provider account IDs. They are not used for advertising or marketing. Payment providers may retain transaction records under their own legal obligations and retention policies.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the App or our website. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
